Any tips on adding a gentle curve to a badge?

Loading...

I am re-wrapping an old wrap to a shell and want to re-apply the original badge.

When I removed the badge it flattened out - is there a good method to add a gentle curve on the badge so it can be re-applied snugly to the wrap?

Thanks

Actually in Ludwig it’s bend

April 2nd 1969 scarfed pink champagne holly wood and 65/66 downbeat snare, and , supra same year very minty kit old pies
66/67 downbeat with canister
Super 400 small round knob
1967 super classic obp

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

It isn't a ludwig badge - it's off a Nikkan (MIJ) snare.

Tips?

If fitting with a grommet.. add a little more curvature than is required to shape... The grommet fitting will then pull it in for tighter fit..

Cheers

+1 with this method! I recently restored a 60's Ludwig Pioneer snare drum with new Mod Orange wrap and a repro Ludwig badge. I took the badge and rolled it over a 13/16" socket, which gave it a bit more curvature, but made the badge almost perfect after installing the grommet! I need to get the pictures off my iPhone and resize them for this forum, which clearly show the new curve of the badge.

Here are some pictures of the Ludwig badge after I put a gentle curve in it and then after installation. Hope this helps!

Thanks Dan! The badge came out great! I now have three Ludwig "tribute" snare drums... Mod Orange, Citrus Mod and Psychedelic Red. The CM and PR drums are Jazz-festival style. All three would be worth quite a bit if they were original!
