Because your kit is Fullerton-era, I believe that new or original machined collet noses should work. If yours was UK built, there might be an issue. However, I don't think you'll have a problem. Our resident expert, Ploughman, might know for sure.

I'm also attaching some pictures of a vintage Rogers kit I had some years back, clearly showing the machined nose around the collet fingers, securely clamped around the hex shaft of both the tom arm and bass drum spur. You can see how little of the collet fingers are exposed at the opening of the nose. This is what you want to achieve!

Many thanks to Amosguy, Dan and Mark for all the fascinating information (and great pics Mark!) on the collet noses. It's a whole field on it's own, isn't it! First off I am going to check out the collet nose on the spare angled fitting with the kit, to see what condition it is in, then have a look for replacement parts on the internet. Will keep you posted!
