It`s kinda too far away, many models looked similar from off stage. The only clue I can see is the throw attached to the hoop. Several did that too. Can you supply any closer in good light pics. If you can only get one more, get the throw off in the pic.

I find snare drums respond better when the batter head is not as tight as the resonant head. Flipping the tension rods around on this drum will do that.

Need to see the snare strainer and more details....inside of the shell, heads, etc.

I've got several similar drums -most were built as student drums or economy models by companies like W&A and Ludwig. Value on those is usually ~$100.00 depending on condition.

The stand is slightly unusual with the ringed "wing"nuts....Could be European.

BTW....

Those t-tods are single-tension. They aren't attached to the shell so it makes no difference if they are upside down or right side up as far as the tuning. Unless they are attached to the shell, there is no way to achieve dual, independent tensioning. The reason the t's are on the bottom is because they would be in the way, otherwise. That's also why the receivers (claw ends) are rounded -so they don't chop up your sticks while you're playing.

I did wonder if it was a sort of student drum

or something along those lines so thanks for that.

Probably 1920's-30's....but they made these drums into the 1940's, as well. I have a Ludwig Junior kit with a similar-type of single-tension T-rods on both the bass drum and the snare drum. It is dated 1941.

Look inside the shell to see if there is a date printed. Sometimes you can see it through the vent hole (IF the drum has a vent hole! Many didn't)

Wow....Okay...Looking at the second picture you added....The shell appears to be made of oak....unusual....That particular style of t-rod and claw is unfamiliar to me, as is the strainer mechanism....My guess, at this point, is that it is a European-made drum....I'd guess English or German maybe....just a guess, though.

Is there an actual throw-off on that snare strainer mechanism? Or, is it just a screw tensioner?

I presume that the drum is 14" in diameter? Is that correct?

If so, the fact that is has 8 t-rods (as opposed to 6) and the fact the shell is made of oak and is "full-size" 14" diameter (not a 12" drum, as many of these types are), suggests that it's a bit nicer than a complete beginner's drum or a toy drum. And if it has a throw off mechanism -not just a tensioning screw- then that would be another step up on the seriousness scale.

However, as far as sound, these drums aren't really capable of making a serious sound....they're all just kinda....blah. Cool-looking drum though. I haven't seen one exactly like it before.
