Beautiful kit, worth every penny you paid for it.

Welcome to the form.

I don't think you overpaid at all. Many of the Rogers kits you see on ebay are considerably more, and don't have the snare and extras. I think you got a good deal, and it was good that you were able to help your friend out.

Total classic. Love the black. And is there any size better than a 20" bass? Other than the 14" floor tom that is.........

This is the first set I have had with a 20" bass, and I really like it!

When I first became interested in drumming , in the `70s-`80s, it was all about power toms and deeper bass drums.

My first kit was an `81 Gretsch, 14x22, 8x12,9x13,16x16. I remember another drummer in my high school band commenting on my "jazz sized" drum kit!!

Now, I know I chose wisely.

If I were to buy a new kit today, it would probably have a 20" bass.

I think anyone who has had to transport, carry ,and set up their own kit has eventually seen the light on why 18x24 bass drums are not a friend of the gigging drummer!

Nice looking in the black wrap,I don't remember seeing a lot of Cleveland or Dayton kits in that wrap.

Cosidering the originality, era, and condition of that kit along with the extras I think you got a good deal, the dyna would sell 250.00 300.00 easy, hats and cymbal 200.00 easy, and if the cymbal is a trans stamp add more,so you paid 800.00 for the bass and toms, that is a good deal for Dayton drums IMO.
