Give me your thoughts on this Zildjian Avedis 18" Ride - 1601g.

I'm looking for an approximate year and its value.

Early 1950's.

The value is hard to quantify because its pretty darned heavy. My guess is that it would this one wouldn't be too much in demand.

Thank you sirs. So is the sound indicative of the weight? In other words, does it sound bad to you?

I thought it was on the lighter side of a medium weight ride, myself - the feel of it, the way it wobbles, etc.

If insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results, is it insane to practice?

to me it doesn't sound good. typical heavy cymbal sound.

I think it's medium or mid heavy for the 18". around 1400g would be the best weight for me. I like mid thin cymbals in any sizes.

[COLOR="DarkRed"]Guess it depends on where you are comin' from - If you are used to pingier stickier cymbals it might sound more complex - but to me having had about 20 Trans-stamps come thru here - it's too bright and pingy. It's not terrible and probably a lot of that weight's in the bell area if it actually has some edge wobble - but I agree that for a nice 18" the weight usually is below 1500g. If you dig it - cool ! If not - you'll get a better price for it considering the size - than for a regular later Avedis of same size.[/COLOR]
