Another 2 Zildjian 20” rides from the 50’s or 60’s?

Loading...

Hey everyone.

So after looking at the posts in here about the Zildjian 20” rides, I am curious to find out what cymbals I have here.

First cymbal it’s a taller stamp 1.5” and it’s weighs 2273 grams

The second one has a short stamp 1” 1/8 and it weighs 2178 grams. With eight rivet holes.

What do you think? Thank you

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

Yeah.... they were part of a drum lot I purchased.

They are in good hands now.

The second one is a late 50's Small Stamp. The hammering is also indicative of that era. Nice!

That’s fantastic. I love the stamps.

Even though they are cleaned (BKF I figured) they sound absolutely beautiful.

As long as they weren't waxed, they will begin to slowly tarnish back towards a more natural patina state. If they are waxed, you can clean them with Dawn and hot water to remove the wax. This will speed up the process if you want them not so shiney. All personal preference here.

that’s a good point. I don’t believe they are waxed. So they will patina again in time.

I am also thinking about putting the rivets on the ride. Are those just any kind? Or anything specific I should look for? Never had a rivet cymbal before. Mainly rock here.
