Am I the only one who got a Virus from the Moroccan hacker that took over the VDF

They had 1,000's of characters in the title of the page, so it looked like it was doing something when it was just trying to get through the massive title.

Still investigating

Old Dell PC with Windows Vista and Norton. No problems here. It was weird. The address kept moving, or counting, or something. Just deleted history and cookies (if that even matters) and this old thing is fine. That was bizarre.BPS - Welcome back?

Bill, that is how mine also reacted,I've got webroot, very powerful AVG, also deleted history and cookies, but the bugger still wormed it's way threw!,

I looked at the page again and there is nothing that would indicate it is downloading and putting anything on your PC.

The file is basically HTML with a script that makes the title look like it is doing something and then it spells their name at the top.

I know there is a Gmail virus that does what you have mentioned, just search for it on Google. There is a chance it is a possible coincidence with the home page timing and the Gmail problem. Gmail has a fix for it.

Did your Gmail send spam to people on your list and the spam appeared like it came from you?

David

The moving title at the top was just 1,000 characters loading. The file has a bunch of text.

Ok, that same thing happened to my partner in the office with his Gmail and it was about three weeks ago so that is how I know about it.

He was getting people emailing him wondering why he was sending spam.

He googled it and found the fix with Gmail. There is a way to see if your Gmail was compromised and you can see if it was accessed by a third party. They show you the I.P.s somewhere in Gmail.

Also check your Sent folder and see if the emails are there, if not then someone either harvested the addresses or faking you as the sender.

If it was tied to the forum, I'm sorry about that.

I'm not familiar with AVG, but I forgot to mention my ISP has a bundle of safety in place, so between Norton and "COX", I guess I was spared. Hope all is well, now.

PS - Glad the forum is back and safe.

I work for Corporate America as a Desktop Support Tech. We have an entire Dept dedicated to keeping hackers and malware out. Most Companies like us are attacked hundreds of times in a day, but most people don't know it. . .James
