Advice on Selling Bass Drums

Loading...

I have 2 Rogers 1968 Bass drums in very good condition. They were purchased without tom mounting hardware or holes. Shipping each drum would cost between $100 to $200 depending upon where it's going. Boxes and packing supplies will cost $60 per drum. What's a target price for these so I know my potential profit. Or should I consider driving them to guitar center and selling them. I would guess they would only pay about 50% of market, but considering shipping, maybe that's reasonable.

Well, that's one pic and, from what I can see, they appear to be in great shape. What size are they? I'm assuming 22 X 14.

Those are in great shape. There's a bunch difference in the Floor toms, Are they 15 and 18 ?

There's no way you should separate the pairs out.

Those slant badge are Rogers best drums.

No, floors are 14 and 16. Both are sold.

Bass drums are 22" x 14"

My question is really about a realistic selling price.

For instance, lest assume $300 is a realistic price someone would pay.

$300 Selling price

$150 Shipping UPS

$450 Final price

- $60 Box and packing material (26" boxes not easy to find)

- $69 Ebay seller fee

Profit $321.

There is a point of dimensioning returns. At some point it may be more practical to drive it up to the local Guitarcenter and sell it to them. Remember, there are no holes or hardware for toms.

I think they are worth much more than $300 each....just so you know. I'm going to back off a second and let the Rogers guys chime in, but, to me, those look pretty perfect for their age. Do you know if the hoops have been repainted or any other type of cosmetic restoration has been done to them?

You're a bit too late for sound advice Jag. Op is only here for the $$. I suggested yesterday that he should rape the basses for parts to maximize his bottom line then set the shells on fire, but that was deemed too strong of words for little ears to hear and the admins pulled my post. Wow.

I won't dignify the seller's motive by responding to his request for setting a price for the drums.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.
