Now, this has nothing to do with drums, except for the fact I sold a snare to the kid I am going to see tonite at Othello's in Norman, and the fact the following story took place in, you guessed it, Othello's, today after the OU/FSU game.....for your reading pleaseure:

Dateline: Norman, OK...

After todays' blowout of the Florida State Seminoles, a young man walks into the local Italian Restaraunt/Bar/jazz music venue "Othello's", backpack loaded with cooler and colbeer, sits at a table a lights up....you got it. A big ol' fat marijuana cigarette, otherwise called by those in the know, a "joint", "spliff", "hooter"....and is promptly arrested by local Norman Police.....Mind Blowi

In other news...well, we just got nothing.flowers2

GOOD LORD! I used to play at Othello's when I lived in OKC!!! I know that place well. I-35 south to Norman. It used to be run by some Japanese guys EDIT* Or, maybe it was the cooks who were Japanese....????....and it was the best Italian food around! They still hold one of the records for my favorite pepperoni pizza!

"Best Italian food around". Made by Japanese? Today, I'd believe it if it were made by the Chinese. Ee-ghad!! Thank God for not being there.

Noo Bill....this is indeed some fine food. The kitchen staff is not of oriental descent as far as could tell. And they do make a great pizza. I was in the pizza biz for far too long and unforunatley know all too well about bad pizza, and good as well. Othello's is a great little place to eat and see a cool jazz band on the patio. It was a perfect night to sit under the stars tonite.

I believe you. I was just pulling your leg. We don't have a great selection of pizza here, either.

Yeah, but the worst Mexican you have would be a welcome miracle in most other places. Living in Tucson was food bliss for lovers of real Mexicano cooking. My wife grew up in Tucson, so she knew long before I ever arrived in the land of the sun that you go to the market and buy your tamales outside the store, from a grocery cart-wielding 12 year old girl. "Senor, por favor, $3.00/ dozen". The Sonoran style is and will always be my "plato favorito". We have a wonderful concoction called Tex-Mex....and it all tastes the same, just some is better than other...meh...

Agreed. Sonoran-style is hard to beat. Oh, look, it's lunch time. Adios!
