he claims it was built in the 80's

says its an r-360

If the snare is a Dyna, and the rail is complete, I would say if you like it better than the Cats, go for it. The Dyna, in good, complete condition, could be worth 300-400 on it's own. Ask him for pix of the snare.

I've seen the kit before......it is does NOT have a Dynasonic with it. These are cheap R-360 drums. The Gretsch Catalina series you currently own is FAR SUPERIOR to these things. The R-360's are worth virtually nothing.

He would have to give you these things and about $500 cash to make it a fair deal on your end.....
