Rogers made TONS of Blue Sparkle...and BDP..in the Cleve/Dayton era..so,to me..they represent Rogers...
I do not care one iota...for Big R stuff...so,no comment on color choice..

Hi microswitch! As to Ludwig, I'm sure you meant Oyster Black and not Oyster Blue! As for Rogers, well that's a tough one! I'm not quite sure if there is one color that identifies Rogers. Perhaps Steel-Gray and Red-Ripple pearl. Slingerland had both blue and red ripple pearls, though. Rogers Onyx pearls were very similar to Slingerland's Agate pearls. Rogers offered Black, Blue and Pink Strata finishes. Similar to Ludwig's Oyster finishes, but did have a different look to them. Let's see what others have to say about this!-Mark
Idrum4fun you are right it is black pearl not blue
I guess wrap finish is mostly a personal issue. Everyone has the favorite. My issue is that when you spent $300 plus for a new wrap you want to make darn sure your kit will look the best . My teen memory is of a Rogers kit in the window of this music store in my home town of Bari Italy. It was a WMP and at that time it was "more prohibited" than a prohibited fruit. But it was the subject of my dreams for many years. When I restored my first Black Londoner I left it alone because the wrap was indeed in very good shape. But the new kit I just got really need a re-wrap. So If I have learn anything from this post is.. "there is no Rogers's wrap" only "Your Wrap".
For me, it was the Rogers blue sparkle.....and also the piano black....I think the black just set off the tremendously-cool-looking Rogers script badge and the Swiv-O-Matic hardware better than any other colors...but I love blue sparkle, so it always catches my eye regardless of brand.
