9 luged 16" floor tom

Loading...

Recently purchased some drouyn drum shells and noticed whilst restoring that the floor tom has 9 place's for lugs. has anyone come across a 9 lugged floor tom before and does anyone know where to purchase any 9 holed 16" hoops from?

I have seen 7-lug FTs discussed on here before and would not be surprised if these 9 luggers have as well (though difficult to find in a search due to the limitation of the search engine/options).

I recall that the 7 lug ones are quite difficult to find.

Check drumfactorydirect.com

I had a great day! Instead of sleeping in and wasting the day, I got up at 8 and I had all my slacking done by noon!

Yep - that's the Drouyn gotcha right there. Never seen any other company do it. Sorry to say, not many 9 lug 16" rims out there!

I used to have a 1970's Sonorus drum kit. (Made in Belgium)

The Floor tom was a nine-lugger.

The only one I've ever seen.

Wow! Belgians and Aussies! Talk about fringe dwellers ;-) That is great info. Did they make many of these kits?

"fringe dwellers",... I had to google that... :)

Sonorus is quite an obscure Belgian drum company.

They were already active in the 30's and still are.

I'm into vintage drums for a couple of years now and even on their home turf, Sonorus stuff doesn't show up very often.

This old Sonorus thread also refers to 9 hole hoops and where you might get them,..

All Champion, Phonic, Signature, Phonic Plus, Panther, Performer and Sonorlite have 9 lug Floor toms in 16".

Get the Phonic or Champion or Signature,..they are ferro and the chrome process is superior to any other !i

It`s a drum,.....Hit It !!

Might have to go with single-flanged hoops and tension rod clips till you find a true match - might be a while!

If the rods are spaced evenly, on center, Sonor 16" hoops should work. The math is the same !i I see no reason a Sonor hoop wont fit that floor tom !i

You wouldn't believe how useful that information is. #1 question I get from my Drouyn pages . . . Thank you!
