I got a good deal on a badly pitted 1979 Supraphonic, so I stripped the parts off, polished the chrome and had my dad work his magic at his auto body shop with the shell, painting it GM "Dark Spiral Grey".
Wow! Looks brand new! Nice job and great drum!

How did you "polish" the shell to get the pitting out? Really the pitting is just the chrome flaking off so did you take it down to the aluminum or brass to get the shell smooth for the auto paint?

Sanded it down to pretty much bare and used an etching/building primer to even things out, then wet sanded that. All things considering, because it was done correctly there really isn't that much build up of material on the shell.
