I'm just wondering if there were many of these two tone kits made, I have not seen any others in Australia. Only similar thing I see occasionally are Marching shells. Am enjoying reading some of the expert advice & the historical info on the site.. think I might start some collecting down here..

Cheers

Never seen that color combo either, till now.But that silver/teal combo is happening IMO.From what I understand most of the American drum companies would make the two tone wraps at the customers request,Especially Ludwig and Slingerland, who both in the 50's through 70's were heavy into the educational/school market. Most drums that you see like that in the U.S. were Marching Band drums. The multi color wraps did spill over into the U.S. drum kit market, particularly the patriotic red white and blue sparkle kits.I would venture to say yours would be rare anywhere.Beautiful kit and it looks like you have taken great care of those old drums.

Thanks Guys.. for the compliments.. coming from "u lot" it means much..

For the interested.. its 13, 14 & 18 floortom on a 24*14 BD. It came with the 6 1/2 snare which was stolen from backstage in the 80's. I replaced the snare with an '84 6 1/2 Superstar Rosewood Tama. (That's it under the Chrome wrap... I only did that earlier this year).

The Slingo's are stock with exception of Bd Claws, T nuts, & Leg mounts on the 18" floor tom.

eamesuser,

thanks for the info, Thats what I was after.. given the rarity of the kit (and if I can work out how to do it).. I'll post a proper pic to the gallery..

Cheers

That is a beautiful drum set. I am especially partial to Slingerlands and Slinger/Leedys. Here's my little Slingy multi band set that is comprised of a 14x20, 8x12, and 14x14. The original white bands were White Sparkle that were irreparably stained, and had completely delaminated. I replaced the White Sparkle with the appropriate vintage White Marine Pearl. The set came to me with a trashed chrome snare drum. But, I have the appropriate Red Glass Glitter six lugger, Blue Glass Glitter eight lugger, a few Chrome snares, and a magnificent 4x13 White Marine Pearl Radio King snare. The old Ludwig canister throne is a pretty good match to the drums.

I forgot to post the "before" picture of the 8x12. The White Sparkle was in better shape on this drum than the other two drums
