70's Gretsch double tom hanger nuts Last viewed: 13 hours ago

This is a long shot I know but thought I would ask here because I've tried all the hardware shops and even specialty fastener outlets with no luck.

I'm looking for one of the larger of the two sized nuts that the hex key fits for this double tom hanger. All four nuts that tighten the tom supports down are 7/16" in diameter - there's two that fit the small machine bolts and two that fit the large machine bolts. I can find nuts to fit the bolts no problem but these nuts are two thick (1/2" in diameter) for the Gretsch hex wrench. I've tried every place I can think of and the answer that most give me is that they are special thin walled profile nuts and no one knows where I can find them.

Has anyone here got an old Gretsch double tom hanger that they would be willing to sell the nuts off. I see a top part of the hanger (missing the 1" down tube that fits into the bass drum) on eBay but by the time I get it to Canada it will cost me over $100 CDN ........an expensive nut.

My other option is to take the common (1/2") thick walled nut to a machine shop and have the wall ground down to fit the hex nut - I might even try grinding it myself but it would be nice to have the factory nuts n' bolts.

Here's the hanger. The nut that I'm looking for is shown on the right - the slimmer of the two. I don't know the correct name the - threading size - but it's 7/16" diameter and probably a factory nut which fits perfectly into the Gretsch Hex Key. The nut on the left fits the bolt the very same as the factory nut but it's 1/2" diameter and two thick for the hex key of course.

I have some spare Gretsch parts that I would be willing to trade for the parts I need here
