65 Slingerland Shelbyville Badge 20/12/14/snare Gold Sparklearkle

Loading...

My buddy finally gave in and sold me this kit I had been lusting over for a few years and I sure do appreciate it. He has a stunning collection.

This is a 1965 Shelbyville 20/12/14/6 lug snare All drums have maple interior and rings. The snare and kick have the maroon Shelbyville badges but the floor and mounted tom did not come with a badge or vent. Kick, snare and tom are all dated Oct 23 or 25 1965 and the floor tom March 1966. It's in great shape and the wrap is still vibrant for it's age.

I believe it is a Windsor 6N model kit from the 65 catalog with an "optional" floor tom.

He did have the original hoops as well. He does have the rail and tom mount. They sound great, and appear to mostly be born together. From a very interesting period. Yes, he has the tom mounted upside down!

That drum set is beautiful. It will be gorgeous when you reinstall the original hoops and tom mount hardware.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

No badges on toms is correct for those dates. Toms can be identified as "Shelbyville" by the re-rings which should be oak. Beauties. BTW, the rack tom is upside down (LOL).

Upside down is not as much of an egregious insult to the drum as being on a snare stand.
