60's Ludwig Mount Options

Hey guys,

I have my eye on a '66 Ludwig OBP in a 20, 12, 14 configuration. No extra holes in bass drum, but tom is mounted with 60's Ludwig double tom mount (although it has only 1 arm). Im trying to figure out if Ludwig offered the double tom mount as an option for downbeat configured kits, rather than a rail mount. Anyone seen anything like that before? The mount looks to be factory installed.

Thanks for any input!

I've seen plenty setup like that. But none were cataloged like that as far as Down Beat kits. Most likely a special ordered Hollywood kit in smaller sizes but only using the one tom instead of the 12 and the 13.

Thanks Mike! I was hoping that was a possibility. If I pick this kit up Ill post some pictures.

Yeah, not cataloged that way (at least not in the 3 ply era) but if someone wanted to order a set with the center mount (perhaps with an eye towards adding a second tom at a later date, or maybe just not a fan of the rail mount) Ludwig would certainly do that. Not really that uncommon although often it's a later mod rather than "factory".

There are several single tom holders available that use a down tube that will fit in that bass drum-mounted receiver. My Ludwig Standard set came to me with the tom holder changed out to be the double tom version from the upper line of drums. I ordered the pictured single Ludwig tom holder on eBay for under $20.[Attachment: 115276]

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.
