60s Acrolite shell

Loading...

Just bought a 1966 Acrolite shell on Ebay for 50 bucks. Shell has a few scratches, had detailed pics and saw nothing major. Is this an ok price for a shell only??

I own three nice Acro snares all coming off C/L. My best is a 69 keystone badge, mint condition. I paid 75 for it with a case and stand. I hate to say it but you asked, 50 for a shell is too much. My other Acros were basically free with purchases of drum sets. There seems to be alot of Acros floating around, and I dont think you need ebay to get one. I posted a drums wanted add on C/L and someone called me, thats how I got my 69 mint Acro. Good luck with your project, are you looking for the rest of the drum now or have other plans for the shell???

well I have acrolite lug casings but will need a strainer. I probably should have asked before bidding on it.... I also have rims and will only have to buy a throw off. Im thinking I can have it finish for a total of about 100 bucks, give or a take a few.

i would pay 50 for a keystone acro shell if it was a certain serial number that i needed. i would also have no problem spending that in the situation that you have.

jc is right. there are soem deals out there. but, the keystone acros have really been going up for the most part. since you have most of the other parts, it makes total sense to do what you did. you'll have a great drum and not much not be overly invested.

i recently paid a ton for a clubdate ride tom. but, i already had the floor tom at a sweet price. i looked at it as a total package price and i'm cool with that. it all works out in the end if yuore happy with what you have and what you spent.

Yes, I think what Mike is saying is if you are happy with the purchase then it really dont matter what other people think. I have paid much more for drums than other members would have ever dreamed of paying, but I was happy. My first response to your post was 50 is too much for a shell based on my purchases. When you placed your bid for the shell your were comfortable with it and thats all that matters. I once paid 127.00 for two sbp 20" base drum hoops for my Club date off ebay and was very happy with that. Some of the guys have made some pretty cool drums from the acro shells. Please keep us to date on what you do with it, thats why we are here. We love to see what other guys are doing.
