Working towards a Gene Krupa Deluxe Ensemble.
The floor and ride toms have at least four coats of latex paint on them. Red, blue, yellow, and the original white. I used a citrus paint remover on the ride... what a mess. It has taken two applications so far, and appears it will take a third to finish up. I'm going to try the conventional remover on the floor tom. So far on the ride, it looks like the outer maple ply may be suitable for a natural finish.
And, has anyone tried the heat gun method of removing paint from drum shells? I've been reading a little about it on line lately.
