50s 15" A. Zildjian confirmation.

Is this a 50s A.?

Supposedly it's really thin and trashy... Would make a nice brother to my CIE reissue Thin 16" crash.

I'm still searching the forums and the net... I'm new to this and the forums.

Thanks ahead of time.

Cheers,

David

Yes...it might even be a trans-stamp, late 40's. Very nice cymbals. Very nice. Lotsa hand-work on those.

Would $100 be a fair price for a 15-incher?

Aslo, I have a 20" ride with a similar stamp... I'll post it later this weekend. The thing is AWESOME!

Trans stamp for sure. Probably the most collectable period for A's.

I pulled the trigger and bought it.

$113 shipped.

48 hour "trial" period.

should match my 20" nicely.

Now I just need to replace my broken 16" Cie reissue...

Sounds like you're becoming a trans stamp addict.

There's no cure for that you know.

Got it... sounds ok... Not amazing... a little trashy for a crash... sound sorta like a big splash.

Nice and thin, a bit of wobble... low overtones.

I also think it either IS or was used AS a hi-hat top as it has the tell-tale polishing of the bottom outer edge by the other cymbal. But It has no abuse or problems...

Would be good as a second crash... but not as a primary.

not sure what to do.

1/2 of a pair of hats. Now go and find its soul-mate.

I don't need or want a set of 15" hi-hats.

Also... the bell is pretty small on this... is that a tell-tale sign of a hat?
