!5 Inch Die Cast Rims?

Loading...

Hey, guys!

I've FINALLY got my old Ludwig 12 X 15 cow marching snare sounding really good! Now I want to pamper it a bit. I've already installed brass plated t-rods and sleeve washers along with some Puresound wires and good heads. I'm thinking of replacing the rims with die cast, but I can't seem to find any die cast 15 inch rims, 12 hole. Is there even such a thing? If so, would anyone have any to sell? This drum is now CLOSE to my late seventies Supra as far as sound is concerned. Not as pretty though and damned heavy! Thanks.

Hi Brian!

I just did an internet search and all I could find were new Ludwig 2.3mm 15" 12-lug hoops. I honestly don't know if these exist in a die-cast hoop! Also, I have a feeling that the Ludwig hoops will be slightly oversized, causing the infamous "lug splay" issue!

Brian!

When I read issues like this, sometimes it becomes personal to see if I can help. I find it very easy to do an internet search to see if I can track down what others may not be able to find. Sure wish my search had a happier ending!

I guess the bottom line is to just shine up your original hoops and enjoy your drum!
