40's bakelite lugs wanted

Loading...

I'm in the process of collecting parts to build a snare, made of wood from my 1850 house. It will be dedicated to my grandfather and his friend my first drum instructor. I still have quite a few vintage parts from my grandfather, including 8 of these bakelite lugs.Does anyone know what brand they are, and more importantly a source for two more?

You have a nice, "simple" shaping device there.

Well crafted sir. No bakelite lugs here.

Good Luck.

I can't take credit on the build. It was built by a member here on the Forum.

Those bakelite lugs will be hard to find.

Are the lug inserts a modern standard size, 12/24"?

You could make new lugs out of wood or even aluminum.

Seeing how the lug profile is fairly simple.

Another way, is to make a silicone mold of the lug and cast new ones

out of polyester resin maybe.

Lets see the rest of the hardware please.

Great tribute concept!! 1850, nice.

They are 12/24 thread. I looked on the various VDG pages to no avail, but some of the brands are pretty sparse catalog wise especially during the war years. Someone here knows what brand they are. This is the epicenter of vintage drum knowledge.Burger Kin
