3-sheets Discontinued Abalone wrap

Loading...

Hi All,

NO LONGER AVAILABLE. Thanks for looking...

I have three full sheets 24" x 54" of a killer (discontinued) Abalone wrap. See here:

http://www.vintagedrumforum.com/showthread.php?t=20883

I'll swap the three sheets straight up for 3 sheets of Red Glass Glitter wrap. You'll have a unique wrap you can use to create a one-of-a-kind drum set.

PM me if you're interested in a swap.

John

I own an old Fibes kit that has that exact same wrap. The only drum that does't have it is the snare. For years I have been searching for the wrap, and this is literally the only place I can find the same one. Anyways, do you have any more of the Abalone wrap, only enough to wrap a snare with?

Sorry Alex... this is an old post you're responding to. All the Abalone I had went into this kit awhile ago:

I have a couple of small scraps but nothing that can be used to do a snare drum. Sorry man.

Welcome to VDF! Wish I could have helped you out.

Mike - It's a year-old post! I was looking for red glass glitter to do a club-date project kit that never ended up happening. So I wound up using the Abalone on my Oaklawn orphans.

Alex,

I found a piece of the wrap! I need to know the size of your snare drum. It's a 'short' piece that might cover the drum in two pieces. If you spot the seams under lugs, once the tension rods are on, the seams disappear. Not sure if there is enough wrap until I know the size of your snare... pm me!

Hi John,

This is great news! The snare I have is a little Fibes 13 * 5. It currently has a gold glitter wrap which looks nice but I have been searching for the matching wrap for ages and yours is the same for sure.

By the way, your kit looks beautiful. If we can get this sorted out I will be sure to post pictures of the finished Fibes kit on the forum.

Please let me know how much you want for the wrap, even if it's two pieces that we need to do the job.

Thx,

Alex.

Alex - Ok! Here's the poop. To cover a 5"x13" shell you need a piece 4 3/4"x 42" (13 x 3.14 = 41.80 + overlap) I can get two 4 3/4" x 21" pieces out of the remnanant that I have. That'll do the drum.

Instead of locating a single seam under a lug on the back of the shell opposite the badge, you'll have two seams, (Badge/12 o'clock,) with seams under the nearest lugs to the; 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock position on the shell. You'll only have a small amount of overlap at each end/seam. Just make sure that the top flap of the seam falls -dead center- over the holes for the lug. That way, when you put the tension rods in, the seams will be directly behind the rods... essentially rendering the seams invisible. Even though the drum will have two pieces of wrap, no one will ever be able to see them. It'll look great.

Listen man, this is a discontinued wrap, I have no clue what a fair price is for the pieces I have. Tell me what you had budgeted for it, make me an offer. We'll go from there. Honest, I wouldn't know what to ask for, so I'm leaving it up to you to make me a fair offer. (Keeping in mind that this is the last piece of this stuff on the planet! lol - )

I was glad to find the piece of wrap for your drum and even more pleased that it's large enough to do the job. Let's, Git'-R-Done!
