well ludwug back in the day offered a clear coat on there brass similar to what is done for commercial brass restoration remove the old clear coat buff it up and respray it so it looks new again but then again no one is hitting door hardware as a instrument i actually have 2 that this was done to and ill try to see how these sound before and after cleaning i wonder if the clear coat deaden's actual sound ...

April 2nd 1969 scarfed pink champagne holly wood and 65/66 downbeat snare, and , supra same year very minty kit old pies
66/67 downbeat with canister
Super 400 small round knob
1967 super classic obp

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

What i realy like is when i see customers faces when they see the their cymbal for the first time ,The look on their faces is classic , when they start tapping on the cymbal , They always say not only dose it look new it sounds new too. For what ever reason the debate on weather to clean or not to kleen and how to clean will Rage on. As for me and my service i will continue promote pro cymbal maintenace and the quest to do it better will always be alive.

Wow, what a difference! Looks great!

How much did it change the sound, in your opinion?

And, most importantly, how did you do it?

Thanks Ela. The cymbal had lost most of it's articulated sound and was near dead sounding , after cleaning the cymbal with no surprise to me the intended cymbal sound came back to life , now it sounds like it belong in a big band set up.

How i do it it's very much like the pro cymbal polishers that you will find on you tube. But even them has flaws and issuses and set backs that would cause concern for any one getting a cymbal done that way , so i had a engineer build me one and adress those concernes , and he did , right on the money . Sorry i cant go in great details on exactly how we do it , cause our canadian built machine is heading for a canadian patten.
