20" Zildjian trans stamp ride

Loading...

I dug this out of the junk room to inspect it after buying some cymbals off craigslist, and wanted to know your thoughts. Is it for sure a trans stamp? I think I'm falling in love with this thing,(yeah, the wife thinks I'm crazy), and yet I'm still thinking of selling it. I'll be posting a vid On my YT of it as soon as I can borrow the good camera from a freind.

One of the cymbals I bought recently is a meinl Ambico camber 20 ride. I like how it sounds, but know nothing about it. Is it worth the 5 bucks I payed for it....(I know the answer to this, but still want imput).

Thanks

It looks to be a Trans-stamp, based on the ...(duh)... stamp as well as the hammering.

Crap..."out of the junk room " ???!!!!!

That is a VERY valuable cymbal. Looking at about a $350-450 ride cymbal right there.

Those old A's are, arguably, as sweet as their contemporary old K cousins. It will only appreciate in value, I think...so if you like it...keep it and play it. I love playing mine, they just feel like butter and sound so good.

The Ambico ? Do I HAVE to answer THAT question in the SAME thread ?electricit

I believe it is an NS12 Alloy (nickelbronze) like an old Ludwig Paiste Standard. Worth more than $5. Yes...maybe worth about $50 on eFlay.

Hope this helps....The Band

thanks,

yeah, I'm far from a fan of meinl, just not my thing, but yes, my wife picked up this old beauty at a yard sale for 1 dollar and 5o cts!!!!!

I'm so freakin stoked, I so want to keep it, but I think it will be hitting ebay.

I don't know, the more I play it, the more I like it!

Thanks again.

Drumaholic,

You seem to be the expert, can you verify my trans stampclaims for me, and maybe give me new/ older clue within the time frame?

Thanks

Value of that cymbal will have a lot to do with the weight of it. For example, if it weights 1600-1800 grams, then yes it would be worth $350+. If it's really heavy and weighs more than 2200 grams, not as much.

I still have this cymbal, and wanted to know what a good starting price should be on eBay? It is 1939g. I was thinking of starting it around $325.00

Well starting price is a strategic selling decision and you make the final choice. Broad brush strategies are

Start at $1 No Reserve and trust the market to find the price for you.

Start at $199 No Reserve and keep out the rif-raf but cover yourself.

Start at $325 (or whatever) and get that price from the 1 bidder who will bite at that price, or maybe have to re-list 4 times.

I've done all three over the years. Think of it as the usual risk/return ratio the investment guys talk about. Sometimes I've lost money on a $1 but once a bidding war broke out which netted my $250 more than I expected and more then compensated for the losses on other $1 No Reserve auctions I've done.
