Here are two projects that I've been wanting to complete lately but have not had the time to finish until this weekend.
The first kit is a 13,22 Gold sparkle Combo that I picked up a while back that just needed a thorough cleaning of the shells and hardware and refinishing of the hoops including a section of missing inlay.
I've always favored gold sparkle wrap and I really like the appearance of center lug kits so I wanted to piece together a full matching kit with this one.
Thankfully, AirborneFSC (Manny) told me about the all original gold Jazzfest advertised on GC's website which ended up being an amazing deal on a near mint snare! Thanks Manny!
I had been saving a few 15 x 12 marching snares for the right projects and decided this would be a good fit. I ordered the vintage sparkle wrap from Jammin Sam and installed the wrap with the high bond tape method. This wrap does have a touch more orange than the proginal but I am very happy with the results. After installing leg mounts and filling a few strainer mount holes, I ended up with a floor tom that has amazing tone and a wide tuning range.
I have never been a fan of nickel hardware so I swapped the nickel on the bass and tom with chrome to match the snare and floor tom.
The second kit is a match up of three orphans that I have had for a while. 13,15,22.
The 13 was in great shape but had some wrap issues.
The 22 had a large extra hole from a 70's double tom mount that I repaired with a plug cut from a donor shell. Bass drum hoops needed refinished and new inlays.
The 15 is an ex-marcher that I converted into a floor tom.
The wrap is Jammin Sam's red sparkle and all interiors have been lightly recoated in satin white.
These should be good for another 50 years now!
