1970's Slingerland 14x24

Loading...

Just finished this one up tonight.

1970s Slingerland 14x24 bass drum. A re-wrap with White Marine Pearl. Front hoop isn't Slingerland (probably Ludwig, as it's a bit wider), and the claws on the kick side are newer Gibraltar. Spurs are newer Gibraltar as well (same general style as Slingerlands of the 1980s). Interior has been repainted (close to 70s "chocolate milk"), and any extra holes were filled.

A good player's drum with the real, vintage sound.

I've got a 9x13 to go with it, but no floor tom.

Nice job Bill. Every project you do always looks so good!

I've added a 9x13 tom. Finished it up today.

I've also got a piece of wrap for an 8x12, but it's of the "Stage Band" variety (single lug, like the Ludwig Club Date).

And, I've got enough of the same wrap to also do a 10x15 tom (old marching drum with the lugs like the Ludwig "mach" lugs).

But... I don't have a floor tom.

Let me know what you think... should I wrap the other two?

(All of these drums are/were just stuff I already had. The wrap was left-over from a custom job...)

Looking good, Bill. If it were me, I wouldn't wrap the single-lug 12" tom (since lugs don't match). I would find a floor tom and wrap that, though.

Thanks for the input, but it don't make much difference now... I sold the BD and 9x13 this morning....

Of course I've still got the wrap left over, but I can do a couple of snare drums with it. So the Slingerland shells I mentioned will just go back in the "stack."
