1970's Gretsch Jazz kit- $1950 CL

I saw this ad this morning on CL. What do you guys think of this kit and price? I'm not in the market (I found my dream W&A kit earlier this spring), just a beginner in the vintage drum world and instantly addicted and wanting to learn all the time and can't stop looking at vintage drums.

The ad reads:

"Gretsch Stop Sign Badge, "Drop G" kit from the 1970’s. These beautiful rare drums are classic black nitron wrap over Jasper gumwood/maple shells. Original bearing edges are in perfect condition. Drums have the silver painted interiors with original Gretsch mounting hardware and spurs with dial knob mufflers.

Small Tom: 8 x 12 Model 4415 Serial 110620

Floor Tom: 14 x 14 Model 4417 Serial 108784

Bass Drum: 14 x 20 Model 4249 Serial 116225

These drums are in great condition and still have the original Gretsch Permatone heads on the bottom and bass drum front. I am the original owner."

this kit is way cool. i've just been getting into the vintage drum world myself and, i agree, it's very addicting!

So are you going to try to pick up this kit? i wonder if he would do trades at all.

Little too pricey for a SS badge. I'd rather have a RB

Its better to have people think you're an idiot, than to open your mouth and prove them wrong, unless you doubt yourself then speak away....

Except the SS did,nt have that "tight head" problem the RB did,and the tuning range is much wider because of that.I think they,d take 1500 w/o blinking.
