1967 Ludwig Black Oyster Pearl's

Last night while on ebay I stumble upon a listing, two hours old, listed for just one day. The listing was a one owner 1967 Ludwig kit complete in beautiful shape, together with the original receipt. 20-16-13-14, the Jazzfest was beautiful. Starting price $6.95 no bids and nine watching. So I count my change and lay the largest bid I ever did on the bay. Yeah, all by my lonesome. Now I know these are going to go for big bucks. I decide to contact the seller and ask him if he would consider relisting the listing as a buy it now. No response. No need to worry about shipping since I'm twenty minutes away. I step away for a few minutes and when I return it's at $255.00. I step away again and when I return, the listing is gone, bummer. Not the first time for me but this one hurt. Ebay states that they contact the high bidder and furnish the reason it was ended but I received no such notifications.

Sounds like one of the scammer listings. They're usually taken down by ebay when people report it as a scam.

Mo Tenkie I don't think so but I did do some research and the "business" does not have a listed address or phone number. Suspicious maybe but he may be someone ebaying from his home. I don't believe it's a scam listing since he/she have a ton of listings for primarily tableware such as knives, forks, spoon sets with I believe high 90's positive feedback and close to 400 transactions. I tried contacting ebay to ask as to why I didn't receive an email explaining the end of the auction but they are down for maintenance.

Scammers hack the legit seller's account. They then go in and post items such as the drums, items that will sell for large amounts. They try to collect the money on a side deal. Then of course the buyer is stuck with no drums. The hacked account is now in a mess. It happens a lot.

Wow I never heard of that happening, nothing is sacred anymore. So how would I know if the listing is legit? Will the scammers go far as to also somehow hack the contact info of the seller such as their email?

Sounds like a scam to me!! No response to your question was the first flag...Also, the low starting price with no reserve is another flag...

Cheers

I finally got in touch with ebay they stated that the system cancelled the listing. So yes it was a fraudulent listing, no fault of the seller. In this case I wouldn't have gotten burned since the transaction would have taken place face to face but again, wow! By the way, the reason they said that I wasn't notified was "technical issues".
