1966 Sky Blue Pearl Ludwig project

I picked these up a few months ago. They are my first set of 1960s Ludwigs. They are a Hollywood set. They need some work.

Apart from the "custom"/diferent 14" tom (I'm keeping a lookout for a 13"), there are some issues:

- scratches, rashes in the wrap

- the bottom hoop on the 12 & 14 are not Ludwig

- incorrect tom mount (I now have a correct 1966 replacement)

- only 1 red felt baseball bat muffler (should be white? - I now have 3 white ones)

This will be a slow restore since I usually get to work on it on the weekends.

Question: - do the floor tom legs look too short?

they made the floor tom legs in two lengths. one is 17 or 18 I think and the other almost 22. so they could be correct or the others added if needed.

with those serial numbers, the white felt would be correct. I may have a white felt arm that I could swap you for the red if you were interested.

My 71 Super Classics have the longer legs.

I think I remember reading a thread on here a long time ago about when the different lengths were used. Hmmmm

I have 4 early 70's Ludwig kits. They all have the shorter 17" floor tom legs. The longer ones are 23". I don't think they came out until later. I wish they still made the 17".

Same as Mike & Gerry, my 62' SBP floor tom has the 17" legs. I used Maguires on my wrap and the drums look like new. Try it on your shells.

I just checked, the 66s have the 17" legs and the 71s have the 23" legs .
