1966 BOP Club Date Kit For Sale

I am (sadly) parting with my 1966 Blue Oyster Pearl Club Date Kit. This is a 4 piece with 20" bass drum, 12' tom, 14" floor, and 14" snare! This kit is all original and the serial numbers are very close!

BD - 269xxx

Tom - 254xxx

Floor - 263xxx

Snare - 264xxx

The stamp inside the floor tom reads May 11, 1966.

There have been no mods (no extra holes) made. The heads have all been replaced (new Weather Masters). I have only done light cleaning/polishing (read" soft rag and light elbow grease) so I have no doubt that they can look even better!

The bearing edges were recut in January or 2009 (classic round) by the amazing Lou Ross (Pittsburgh, PA) www.louross.com . I added diff floor tom feet, a bass drum anchor, Puresound custom wires. It looks and plays absolutely beautiful!

There is light pitting/rust (as seen on legs of floor tom) on metal but this is very minor. There is also a spot of a greenish "paint" on the bass drum. I didn't even attempt to remove this.

Also avail are the orig Speed King pedal, WFL snare stand, and the original straight cymbal stand (flat base).

I will sell all for $150... Purchase them with the kit for $100!

ClubDate, recut edges, I am not so sure. This may be a bit "ambitious" as most vintage buyers shy away from that kind of mod, and it is a mod, any time you re-cut edges on vintage Ludwigs, you compromise the value. I may be wrong on this, but I think you will find others give the same opinion.

They are gorgeous drums, however, this may be too much.

I understand that drum collectors refer to a bearing edge recut as a mod. As a player I look for a drum that has actual value as a musical instrument. Mr. Ross does amazing work with vintage edges as he is a vintage drum restorer/player.

I do appreciate your input, though.

If I was looking to buy that type of set, I would probably offer somewhere around 800-950, but that's just me.
