1965 Ludwig Pioneer Snare - Tension Rods

Loading...

Hi. My latest restoration project is a nice 14" x 5" 1965 Ludwig Pioneer Snare. Unfortunately, the tension rods are VERY corroded and I fear I may need to replace them. Is there a modern rod available (e.g. Gibraltar) that would be a straight replacement?? (Obviously, I will retain the originals in storage). Thanks. Gordon

Have you tried to remove the rust using something like Evapo-Rust Remover? it is sold here in the US in hardware and automotive stores. It works very very well. Also, for rods and parts that have a lot of rust, i typically soak them over night, wash them off then take them to a wire wheel and the rust comes right off. many parts that I thought were unrecoverable look like new now.
