1961 Slingerland Drum Set

The original rims would have been Slingerlands COB "Sticksavers".. Next choice would be their 70's Steel "Sticksavers"... but generic or most other triple flanged or die cast hoops will usually fit..

Also there is someone doing aftermarket Sticksavers in US...

Cheers

John

This looks like a mixed/orphan kit. Some more pictures and drum sizes are needed to further identify years and kit model. Here are a few things I can tell you:

1) Snare is not a '61. Black/Brass badge with serial number was used Oct. '62-'70. Zoomatic strainer was first used in '62. Your Zoomatic looks like the '62-'68 model with two small holes on the clasp. I can't make out the serial number but it looks like it is 5 digits which I believe would be '66 or earlier. The nylon tension rod washers are not original. The hoops should be COB. Check to see if this drum is 3-ply or solid maple.

2) One of the drums appears to have the chocolate milk stained interior which was used '66-'71.

3) The '61 dated drum has the correct mahogany interior ply. The transition from mahogany to clear maple interiors was in June '63. The "P" stamp stands for pearl wrap which is correct.

Nice drums.
