This is a Gretsch RB "Combo" 12x24 bass drum date stamped 1953 as well as the 5x14 snare that came with it. As far as I can tell everything is 100% original including the "Responso" snare wires and clip on spurs. Both drums are single tension with calf heads in really nice shape. Snare has a "Radio King" calf head. Not sure if that was the original one or not but looks to at least be era correct.
The finish looks great with a couple of wear spots on the bass drum hoops most likely from the clip on spurs and a couple of very minor chips in the paint here and there, but for Duco I would say this is in 9 out of 10 shape.
Strainer on snare seems to be stuck "off" but nothing is broken. I just didnt want to take it apart or force it and take the chance of ruining anything on this great original example. Forum members have assured me that all it needs is a lube.
Please drop me a line and make an offer, as I am unsure exactly what this is worth. Don't see these for sale in order to get an idea of what to ask. I am located in Madison, WI. Ill ship, but I would need to get it boxed up and secure and then get a quote from the post office...so please bear with me. Ill only charge actual shipping+cost of buying a big double thick box. Probably $50 or so because of size??? If you have cheaper ideas I am totally open to them. Lets work it out!
If you want to see my seller feedback check out thisbright14 on ebay. Its 100% positive. Please ask for more pictures if you need them. I can email or text them to you as soon as I get your request.
Thanks!
