So.... I haven't found any staggered-lug toms in our literature
The toms of that size are single-tension with tacked-on reso heads
I haven't found separate-tension bass drums with Zephyr lugs
In our internet gallery of snares, there are several with Zephyr lugs,
all listed as 1940, so perhaps the rest of the set is as well?
Hmmmm... I'm trying to nail down the actual name of the outfit, but the three drums don't seem to tie together very well, unless these are just some of those irregularities that pop up every so often.
But my real dilemma is about the finish. It is mediocre at best. The badges are very tight, but I have found white paint on many of the tension rods on each drum. On the snare, there is paint on the bearing edges to a very slight degree. Does this point to a previous re-finishing and leave me more open to a re-finishing of my own? Would a top-notch re-finish increase the value in this case? If so, would a finish that is era-correct in color be the way to go? Or do I just leave the current condition as-is? I had thought, too, about abandoning era-correctness altogether and going with a "theme" approach...like Babe Ruth, or All-American, or Uncle Sam, or Wright Brothers, etc......
Whaddaya think, Forum Folks???
