1940's blue pearl 8 lug gretsch snare????

Loading...

Just found this in the attic. Still has calf skins top and bottem - small cut in the top - maybe origonal? Pictures should tell all. Anyone want to make a guess as to the year and/or the value, please let me know.

Nice find. 1940s Gretsch 5 x 14 snare with "Broadcaster" lugs in midnight blue pearl. Most likely a 3 ply maple drum. Looks all original in nice condition...would probably sell for $450 - 700.

Seems quite similar to mine which I believe is 1940. Your lugs look to be in better shape and I paid in that range.

Here's a few more pictures; one showing the cut in the top head and one I took to show that the top ring is not perfectly flat, but it;s hard to see in the picture (near the bail) and one showing the seam is perfect etc...

Is there a way to move this thread to the 'For Sale' section or should I just start a new thread? Or would that be crossposting?

I just moved your post here and then added the link to Ebay...

Are you taking offers?

There is some useful Ebay selling techniques on this forum to get the most out of your auctions..

You should actually include the word Drum in the title since Ebay uses the title section for people searching.

Then possibly start it at $9.99 with no reserve and see what happens... it is a chance, but on a drum like this in this condition, I would expect it to do rather well..

Also a few more pictures including the interior of the drum would help in selling this...

The serious buyers want to see more pictures...

This is not to say your drum will not sell, there might be that one guy that has to have this drum and he will put in the initial $500 bid...

Thanks for letting us see this drum first.
