1936 Ludwig & Ludwig Silver Anniversary Model Last viewed: 13 hours ago

Here is a fairly rare drum that was only made for about a year. The Ludwig & Ludwig Super-Sensitive. Stamped February 1936, this drum is one of the earlier versions with the brass badge and tapped Imperial lugs. Every other '36 I've encountered had the white enamel badge.

What adds to the rarity is the second set of snare wires under the top head. This was the last year that the Super-Sensitive model was offered. This drum was obviously well taken care of and shows very little wear.

1936-37 sort of marked the end of an era for Ludwig & Ludwig. Most of the exotic finishes were discontinued (Abalone Pearl was still offered), along with internal snare wires. World War Two really changed things and by the late 1940's, Ludwig & Ludwig drum options were quite limited.

I never use the word "awesome" because it has become trite and overused today but, I have to make an exception. Your drum is AWESOME!!!

Stunning, top of the line drum, and with it's original retail price of $72.50 in 1936, there weren't many drummers who could afford that. Amazing unrestored condition too!
