1920s Ludwig and Ludwig drums and accessories.

F'k me it's a wood shell super sensitive! I'm a dead man. I'll wait until it comes up in for sale...

Bubs - I'm a sucker for those snare drums! If you decide to sell separately I'm interested. Serious buyer. If you're interested in a trade I'll swap you an entire 1950's WFL Mahogany vintage drum kit in cherry condition for the snare. Check the sellers feedback section for a record of some of my past transactions.

John, I am no longer playing drums but I couldn't be happier that you like that snare. I would be happy to discuss a price with you as I wouldn't be a good home for the other kit. I'm in Sacramento, CA and will send you my contact info.

You're on! And thank you for giving me first crack at it. I love super sensitives so the drum will go to a good home - and it'll get played.

Hope we can work something out... pm me your contact info.

That is an amazing snare. Hope this love connection works out for both John and Bub.

But the bass is not Ludwig, correct? Those thumb screws look more like Leedy or some other make.

The bass is Ludwig&Ludwig. One pedal is also Ludwig and accommodates two strikers (I suppose one was for a bass mounted cymbal). The other pedal is Leedy Pacemaker. The bass drum also has the plug for the light it seems.

Bubs - I've been scouring the Web to find some examples we can use to assign value to the snare drum. The closest thing I found was this on fleabay in the sold listings...

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Ludwig-1920s-Super-Sensitive-NOB-2pc-Brass-/172839762615?hash=item283e0d7ab7%3Ag%3AqB0AAOSwa3ZZm3VL&nma=true&si=DAVSlBLb%252Fiw3MwH7aSq%252FsYK0yM0%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

Mind you that this is the NOB (Nickel Over Brass) version of the drum. The NOB's w/two-piece brass shell always command top dollar. I'll try to find more examples, but at least this is a good start in terms assessing market value. We have to find a number that makes us both smile.

Yes, I saw that one, nice snare. I saw a mahogany one that had inlays and it was also quite nice but not totally comparable. We'll get there! I have a local expert coming by this weekend to help me determine condition. It seems good but he may help me be able to tell you everything. Do you need more pictures?

More pictures are always helpful, please. PM them to me. Get me a close-up of the badge and any possible 'problem panels' on the drum. I have already had a look at the mechanisms and so far, so good. Bubs, if the snare head is clear can you please get a shot of the interior?

I have found out a lot more about the drums. I still am unable to upload files or send pics in PM so I may create a new user profile. The Ludwig bass has a painted front skin that is in very nice shape. The temple blocks are worn but not cracked and sound really nice. I am going to attempt to build it as a set to show it off a bit.
