type I

This is a perfect all purpose cymbal. All things considered, its the most versatile and best sounding A that I've ever played. A few drummers who've played it thought it was an old K. based on how it sounds as well as how it looks. The broad impact hammering makes it flexible and it shimmers. For riding it's got a dry character, with good stick and subtle dark wash. It crashes with just a little effort, and then it dies down. I've heard very few cymbals that can do everything that this one can do.

Hammering looks unusual with those bigger blows. Sounds great, of course.

I've got an old A 18 at 1500gr, great pie.

I also had Ariel Calabria rework a HEAVY 18 ride into a svelte 1500gr 18" crash ride.

I just can't believe that the previous owner put a piece of tape on this thing. It's dry, partially due to the thick patina I'm sure, but it's dry enough as is.

I think he used this as his main cymbal. It came long with a 16" crash that was his other cymbal.

Here´s my 60´s Zildjian A Thin - weighing in at 1338 grammes.

Not as coarse hammering as the OPs, and a keyhole to boot.

Sounds great, though.

That's a nice weight. Looks like it could be early 1960's.
