Friend of mine trying to hunt up 17 inch heads for his snare that’s all I know

The only way I've been able to find them is by calling independent drum shops. One small shop had a couple of them in their attic. NOS from the 70s. Only charged me for shipping.
There were a few 17" calf skin heads on reverb.com.
Would be nice if Remo still made them.

If he has the flesh hoop he could tuck his own natural hide. You can get inexpensive thin hand drum calf from drum factory direct. https://www.drumfactorydirect.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=14_92_102_161 You can also purchase various kinds of hide from stern tanning and bovid percussion. Stern, bovid or kentville will make custom size pretucked heads.
