Thanks a lot for all your input. Those hats certainly are sweet. Very mellow, medium pitched and "sloshy" (if there is such a word :-) I enjoy playing them although they will have to me for mellower playing. What would they be worth, just as a matter of interest? I think they are pretty much matching weight. Thanks guys.

The nice slosh is what equally weights hats are known for, which is why they were made that way. When I said "just hats" I certainly wasn't putting them down. They are great, and just the tool for certain jobs.

On matters of worth, I haven't really collected data about that although Mike should know (probably off the top of his head).

ive got a set of original matched 60's 15 avedis hats. I think I paid 175 for them on ebay and was pleased with that price. I think they still float somewhere in that ballpark, depending on condition and weight.

Thanks guys. I will try and weigh them over the weekend and post the results. I will be very surprised if the difference is more than 100g.

I finally managed to weigh the hats - 960g and 1000g. Quite close in weight. Is that a good thing?

Those weights are very desirable in my book. Light and quite close to one another. Just what I look for.

Other people have different hat tastes, of course.

Hey Zenstat - I find those hats very comfortable to play. They are lighter than my 15" 2002 medium hats - nice and sloshly when played loose, nice definition when closed and playing on the top with tip. I have not played them open yet - I am slightly nervous about damaging them :-)

I must say, I played our church auditorium yesterday (about 1500 seater) and used my Signature Power Hi Hats for the extra projection (although mic'd up, there is only one overhead mic for all the cymbals and the sound guys don't always get the mix right) - those things felt like solid bars of steel after having been playing the light 15" hats for a while - aarrgghh! :-)

Regards

Erik
