Nice score. They are common here in Japan on the used market though. A common configuration was 12/14/20 which they made by the millions. It`s actually a bit more rare to find a 1960s floor tom in the 16" and 18" sizes

That Tempro would go nice re-wrapped to match my Tempro's ......

OsakaBop, I have appreciated your posts and commend you on your collection! Thanks for commenting. However, I just haven't seen many 14'' floor toms, at least around the Northwest US. Other than these two, the only other 14" I've seen was a grey diamond pearl Tempro snatched up by the drum guy from a used shop in town. Every other set I've seen has sported a 16" floor. I mean, right now I have 4 MIJ sets all with 16" floors and another red sparkle orphan. Just in the last week or so there have been 3 MIJ sets on CL all with 16" floors: an awesome 22/13/16 blue diamond pearl, a 20/12/13/16 green-blue strata, and a 20/12/16 Avacado strata Pearl.

Maybe the 14 inchers were more popular in Japan for some reason? I would love to see pics of anyone's MIJ sets with 14" floors! Someday I hope to find a MIJ BDP set 20/12/14 in decent condition, matching, with badges.

Latzanimal, the Tempro has been getting quite a bit of attention... I guess people either dont like the fading or aren't crazy about the Club Date style tension rods.

Here is a 1975 Pearl Valencia I own in blue hair satin 12/14/ 14(snare) - the 14x14 FT is used as a little bop bass drum. Just a fun little kit - easy to cart around.

Just to add- I think the 14x14 is a really useful size with a wide range of tuning and easier to cart around. Your Tempro score is a great find.

Just for anone's info, quite honestly...I have pretty much given up on even bidding on vintage American 14x14's anymore. You can actually get a vintage-style reproduction shell from aitwood.com for not a lotta money, around $100 + shipping....in either mahog/poplar/mahog or maple/poplar/maple.

They are quite awesome....astounding reproductions, really....maple re-rings, nice thin shells. You just need to be handy with a drill.....[/COLOR]
