The last Leedy catalog was 1965. Slingerland continued to supply Leedy badged kits with the iconic "deco" lugs thru the end of the 60's.

2 years agoSlingerland bass drum spur wanted
Assuming the spur mounts are original to the drum, a '66 should have 3/8" diameter spurs. 5/16" are '64 and earlier.

Most likely suspect is cracked/worn collet nuts (aka collet nose).

'77 most likely. 3-ply to 6-ply transition occurred in the '77/'78 timeframe. OP's are likely right around this transition.
