hihat malfunction
From what you describe.. It's possible that the top washer that butts up against the stopper ( those nipped bits on the main shaft ), may have slipped...

Many of the new HH stands have the option to lean the whole stand back in towards you.. The 2 Legged Pearl 2000 is just one example.. Cheers John
