For what it's worth the 60's/70's Telescopic spurs do hold very well... However holes for those are not "close to the floor" as you describe.. Maybe...

Don't see it mentioned here but I believe you get a nicer edge by cutting from the outer face side... not from under side... Cheers John

On both of these mounts, the arm Hex shaft size/thickness is the same Eg.. BD fitting = Tom fitting at the socket ends.. Cheers John

There were as you say "Knock Offs" .. and it's possible that they upgraded the Maxwin ball joint too.. not to sure about that.. I'll look around some...
