That's from the early 1970's. You're fortunate to get one with such a nice weight from that era. Usually they're heavier.

Looks like early 1970's to me. There were still some very nice cymbals still being made even then. But that was just before the Zildjian "Dark Ages"...

Yes, that's the essence of it. Without getting too technichal here, it has to do with something in physics called "resonant frequency".
