I just bought this 1966 Luddy downbeat (sans snare) from Don Bennett (lovely bloke, would like to meet him one day), shipped to Oz for a bit over $3000USD all up, which is probably a lot, but the kit is beautiful and in such good condition I didn't mind forking out. These are some pics from the ad. Can't wait to take it out for a test drive - jazz gig this Friday!
Loving all the kits on this thread, by the way, nice to be able to add one of my own! Cheers, Trev |

Very nice, R.A.M.!!

Re: This is the Display Your Ludwig Drum Thread
Thanks Grantro! It sounds brilliant too. Did a 50s rock'n'roll gig on it last night and it went off! I have a '66 supra as well, which is coincidental, and it's perfect with this little baby!

Late 70's OBP (bowling ball). 22, 12, 16. Took them out for their first gig last week. They really sound great tuned up high. Used a 2009 supra phonic with them.

Thanks Mitch and Jaghog! Been recording with it too, sounds fantastic. I'm really happy I coughed up the dough!
Really like the wrap on yours as well, Jaghog! Is there a lug missing on that top tom, or a trick of the camera? |

ok heres my orphan Ludwigs...made up of a.... 1964 14" jazz festival 1966 12" rack tom 1966 16" fl. tom 1968 13" rack tom and 1968 bass/kick drum nothing real special, but to me, they are the most specailest. Attachment 96509 Attachment 96510 |
Re: This is the Display Your Ludwig Drum Thread
If they are special to you then they are really special. Gorgeous kit too. I always get a little jealous of complete red sparkle kits since my 13" tom and 16" floor tom are missing a bass drum and have been since I got them. One day though, one day!

Re: This is the Display Your Ludwig Drum Thread
Latz, I admire guys who actually play double bass kits, nothing wrong with double kick pedals, I dont use either one. But the two kick drums always look awesome. Makes me want to put mine together again.

This is my 70's sky blue pearl Ludwig kit 13"14" 16" 22" with Supra
and all the original hardware clear interiors the supra has some usual flaking But the drums are super clean and the sky blue pearl has zero fade My older brother had these same sky blue pearl drums He was a working drummer on weekends I used to run home from school, set up the kit, bang away to some Deep Purple then break the kit back down, and re-stack them as he left them all before he, or my folks came home from work. My thanks to my friend richm for not only parting with these beauties But for giving me one hell of a sweet deal as well Thanks buddy side note The head is from a used kit I bought I needed to throw something on so that my seller could take his cheap trick head back home with him  |
