My newest addition is a 1940 LUDWIG & LUDWIG,Black and Gold set.Not sure of the model.Might be the 11"Tom was an after purchase addition. This set was spray painted gold at some point in it's life! The previous owner did a great job cleaning off 90 per cent of it.(thanks Aaron). He did leave the most pesky part which was about 60 per cent of the 11" Tom.I ended up using Goo Gone with reasonable success. This is my only Duco painted set and my only one with the mounting bar on top of bass drum.I love this set!

These are my silver sparkle club dates
They are sort of an unexpected side project while restoring my red sparkle club dates The silver kit has some pretty hideous damage to the wrap on the floor tom that I have yet to sort out also the rail assembly is a Japanese knock-off and will be replaced The red snare is a pioneer but the silver is a Jazz fest |

Just saved this one from a dumpster.
Was painted over and only extra holes was the mount which was added to a virgin bass drum and the 13" to accommodate tom mount. 22/13/16 pre-serial. Early 1960's Red Sparkle. |

My first time trying to upload some pictures. Let's see if I have done this right :)
Here are some Ludwig drums I have added to my gear list in the last year. First up I found a '65 Jazzfest in red sparkle. I fell in love with it, and have been looking to add to it ever since. A few months ago I was in Saskatchewan and got a line on a '67 red sparkle kit that needed some love. I brought it home and have been getting it gig worthy. The kit is 22"/13"/16". The bass drum was in rough shape on the outside, and someone had painted it black inside, then blue. Yikes! I found a '65 shell at a local shop that was in much better shape, so I swapped it out. I have all the original hardware, however I want to use this kit, and so I have updated a few things. I replaced the bass drum spur mounts and cymbal arm mount with modern Ludwig versions. They allow me to use the notch and memory lock to help keep them from slipping. I also switched out the rack tom mount with one from inde drum company. It is an isolation mount of sorts, and required no drilling. Works much better than a snare stand or the original mount (imho). Also, I replaced the consolette with a modern DW one. Again, no drilling was required, and it is much more sturdy and adjustable. The only modification it required was to replace the carriage bolts, as the DW ones are too thick for the Ludwig holes in the shell. Also, I added a '63 Supraphonic this year. It is a gorgeous drum that I love playing. Then a few weeks ago I found a '67 Acrolite with the manufacture date stamp that matches the day my wife was born. I have never had an easier time convincing her that we should buy another snare drum. "Look honey, it was made the same day as you". :) Anyway, that's if for now. Thanks for looking.
