12" FT made from cook pan + leg hack

Aluminum alloy pot from thrift store.
Ran out of Dunnette rim clips, so I tried a hack.
Mounted FT leg bracket to the lug.
Drilled 2 holes through flattened face lug.
Working.
Right....is a 12" worthy of being called a floor tom?
Well...if the bass Drum is 16" and the snare is 10"....then I guess it qualifies.
Maybe.......

There is a guy out there who has made some whisky barrel bass drums.
Don't empty them all the way..........have some for after the show.

New shell diameter/bearing edge Method?????
This pot is 11 and 3/8ths in OD-diameter. I thought it was close enough to 12.
NOPE.
When the head went on, I could see there was too much space between shell and head rim.
So...I looked for a metal that I could bend around the shell to make the diameter larger at the edge. Again......why do I do this????.....Because I learn something each time.
Soooo No on finding the metal.
Then I went to GC to get a EC2 12" head for deep tone. maybe.
and looked at the drum head.
And there it was.......Use an old head rim and cut it down and attach it to the shell.
But how to attach?
First set it up higher than the existing shell. (New bearing Edge is the Head Rim)
Clamp it, measure it up from flat table and drill a hole from the outside through the head rim and the shell. Tap it with 6/32 tap and put a screw in from the inside.
YES threads will go both ways.
So I now have new/old fashioned round over edges. The round over used on Remo Head Aluminum rims. It tunes much better. for a pot........

Amazing! You are truly a creative musician! Years ago, I stumbled upon a make-shift flea market near a river bank in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. For sale was a snare drum made from a hollowed out log! Modern lugs, rims and t-rods were employed along with fairly good heads (I imagine). I was in no condition to play it at the time, but the seller did and the damned drum sounded good! I wish I'd gone back the next day to examine it more closely!
I was probably up to no good the following day as well!
