1964 Slingerland set.

Loading...

I just finished restoring a 1964 Slingerland drum kit. The snare that came with it is a 5x14 1950s Ajax Boosey Hawkes snare that was made in England. I love the snare, it sounds great, and I almost changed my mind about selling the snare with the set. Anyway this is my first post and I'm glad I found this forum, lots of great info and resources.

I have been playing drums for roughly 40 years, they have been a hobby for me my entire life. I recently restored a 64 Slingerland kit.

Very nice kit! However.....re-wrapped kits don't normally bring that kind of flash. Usually you will end up eating the cost of the wrap. Not many three pc. Slingerlands, even in original condition, will bring that much. Not to be a hardass, but that is just the market.

I'm selling the kit at my store, so it's negotiable and we start at high prices, but after some research, I found out that the snare alone is worth roughly $800 (although I am not 100% sure on this) It needed to be re-wrapped because the original wrap was destroyed, in the end I only dumped $400 on it, so it should be profitable

Thanks a ton for the advice!

EDIT: this kit was free btw

Picture number four has a sign on the bass that reads 1400 dollars on it. Yeowch! Destined to be a real good friend, no doubt. What the heck?

The store is in Utica, Michigan, it is just a resale shop, we usually don't sell musical instruments or anything

The kit is selling at my shop for $1,400.

The kit was free because it was included in an estate sale. It is not intended to be sold on this online or anything, I just thought it was a neat kit and some people might be interested in it.
